Golf courses SHUT across United Kingdom due to DEEP SNOW

Storm Arwen has caused chaos overnight across the United Kingdom with falling trees and dangerous traffic among the most serious repercussions.

Over 130,000 homes in England lost power and the Met Office issued a red warning of weather in the North of England. This warning was reduced earlier today.

Gusts of 98 mph have been recorded and this has made the state of car and train travel very dangerous. People are still being advised to travel, but only when necessary as some train services are cancelled and roads have been closed.

Snowfall has been another result of the storm. There have been images such as from Leek in Staffordshire where heavy snow has caused severe travel issues.

As a result of the heavy snowfall and fallen trees, many golf courses across the country have been closed and many golfers have had to make different plans this weekend.

Formby Ladies Golf Club has been shut due to a number of fallen trees on the golf course. The club deemed that it was not safe enough for staff and players to continue playing this weekend.

Heworth Golf Cub in York have shut the course after recording 25 mm of rain overnight and Leeds Golf Centre was almost completely covered by snow earlier today, however, the range and pro shop were still open.

There was footage from Walsall Golf Club of heavy snow early this morning, so this meant that the course was shut for today.

At Penrith Golf Club, the weather caused a power cut to the clubhouse and it is one of many golf courses to be closed in the United Kingdom.

Make sure to contact your local club before you plan your game of golf this weekend.
