Golf fans relate to Tyrrell Hatton's EPIC reaction to bad drive in Abu Dhabi

Tyrrell Hatton had golf fans in stitches once again on the European Tour with his brilliant reaction to a poor drive during the opening round of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

The Englishman shot a 7-under par round of 65, mixing two eagles with three birdies, to leave him within just one of leader and tournament favourite Rory McIlroy.

Hatton is known for his passion on the golf course and the world No.9 can occasionally be a little too hard on himself, which has led to the odd club throw or stern talk with himself.

During Thursday's opening round, it was a rather sarcastic thumbs up that Hatton opted for when he wasn't too keen on one of his drives.

With the odd loose drive or two aside, Hatton looked phenomenal during the opening round and if he continues to play like that for the rest of the week, he'll push McIlroy all the way to the finish line, whilst a few other big names will be hopeful of adding their names to the mix.

McIlroy, who was playing on the European Tour for the first time since 2019, is yet to win the Abu Dhabi Championship, but has four second-place finishes and three thirds in his last nine starts in the competition.

"I knew 65 is the best I have shot here and I've shot it a few times, so I thought let's try to go one better on the next nine and I was able to do that," McIlroy told Sky Sports.

"I maybe played slightly better on our front nine, but I holed some really nice putts coming in for birdies. It was probably the best I have putted these greens in Abu Dhabi probably in my whole career.

"I've always struggled to read them here, but I sort of got my eye in early and kept me going. It was obviously a lovely way to start the year."
