LPGA Tour star Lydia Ko enters 2023 a married woman

Two-time major champion and two-time CME Group Tour champion Lydia Ko married her fiance Jun Chung on December 30, starting the new year in perfect fashion.

Five-time major winner Yani Tseng shared images of the special day on her Instagram page as Ko and her partner capped off a memorable year with a spectacular wedding at the Myeongdong Cathedral in Seoul.

Chung is the son of Ted Chung, the vice chairman of Hyundai Card, a major credit card company. Ko first spoke about the engagement at a Ladies Asian Tour event in Indonesia back in August.

"I’m really thankful for my fiance, and my family who have been super supportive. As much as I want it, they also want me to finish my career well at the time I want to," the star from New Zealand said five months ago.

Chung was able to watch his now-wife lift the CME Group Tour Championship title again in November. Ko completed a wire-to-wire victory in Florida to seal the deal by two shots from Leona Maguire.

As well as banking the biggest winner's cheque in the history of the LPGA Tour, Ko also won the Player of the Year Award for 2022 and the Vare Trophy for the second year running.

The 25-year-old didn't want the preparation for her wedding to scupper her Tour schedule and it's safe to say she succeeded in this respect.

"To be the Player of the Year and to win the Vare Trophy again and to win the CME Group Tour Championship, it's a dream come true. To be able to do it in front of family and my team, you know, it's a very special one," Ko said after her 19th Tour win.

She also expressed her excitement about becoming a bride just five days after Christmas. What better way to kickstart 2023 and another push for more victories?
